Welcome to this month’s Blogorail Red Loop. Today we are all of the new magic you can experience at Walt Disney World in 2016.

What's New at Animal Kingdom | 6 Reasons to Visit Animal Kingdom in 2016 (1)
2016 is a landmark year at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. With a host of new experiences, including a new signature restaurant and nighttime entertainment, even those that have previously written Animal Kingdom off as a half-day park, or even all together, are sure to find something exciting. Here is what’s new at Animal Kingdom in 2016, along with my top 6 reasons to visit.

1. Tiffin’s comes to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom has long been in need of additional dining options. Last year they started expanding their offerings with the arrival of the Harambe Market, and this spring we see the debut of Tiffin’s, a Signature Dining Experience. The restaurant is inspired by the people and places that Disney Imagineers interacted with during their research trips through South Americam Africa and Isia during the research and development of Animal Kingdom. The decor in the eatery centers around travel, and offers views of Discovery River. A dining package will be available for Rivers of Light and/or the nightime Jungle Book show.

Tiffins, a new restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom celebrates the art of traveling and includes the adjoining Nomad Lounge with waterfront views with outdoor seating. Open for both lunch and dinner, Tiffins’ menu features a diverse menu drawing from places that inspired the creation of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The Indian English word “tiffin” means a midday meal or type of container used to carry food while traveling. 2. Kilimanjaro Safaris begins offering evening safaris

2016 sees the expanded hours of Animal Kingdom, with the park and many of it’s attractions now open much later into the evening. With that, we now have the opportunity to take a ride on the savanna during Kiliamanjo Safaris After Dark. The evening safaris will feature animals not seen during the day, and promises to be a unique and enjoyable experience.

3. Rivers of Light

Until this year there has never been a need for Animal Kingdom to host any sort of nighttime spectacular, but that all changes this year. Though the opening of the show has been delayed for the time being, Rivers of Light promises to be truly unique. Live performers, water screens, floating lanterns, giant spirit guides, and more will take to Discovery River to take guests on a journey throughout our world. A new amphitheatre will seat guests around the river to experience Rivers of Light.

“Rivers of Light,”the majestic nighttime jewel, coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom creates an illuminating musical experience for guests. Currently in development with a premiere date to be announced soon, “Rivers of Light” will celebrate the magic of animals, humans and the natural world with a blend of performers, floating lanterns and theatrical animal imagery. 4. The Tree of Life Awakens

Each evening the Tree of Life will awaken with a special projection show featuring music, animals, shimmering fireflys and more. This show is similar to Celebrate the Magic at Magic Kingdom, and reviews say it is simply breath-taking to observe. The story that unfolds showcases the beauty of the natural world in the perfect setting.

5. The Jungle Book : Alive with Magic

Though listed as a “limited time engagement” the Jungle Book : Alive with Magic takes place in the evenings on Discovery River. Featuring the characters and songs from Disney’s Jungle Book guests will experience an enchanting retelling of the classic story.

“The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic,” a new live musical show inspired by the blockbuster live-action film “The Jungle Book,” kicks off new nighttime experiences at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The epic, limited-engagement celebration immerses guests in Indian culture with live performers, music, water screens and vibrant costumes amidst the beauty and danger of the jungle. 6. Harambe Wildlife Parti and Discovery Island Carnivale

Animal Kingdom has always featured amazing Streetmosphere entertainment, and these two new offerings in 2016 promise to bring life to the evening hours. In Harambe Wildlife Parti you can dance with local street musicians in Harambe, and Discovery Island Carnivale bring to life the sights and sounds of a South American Carnivale with entertainment, dancing, stilt walkers and special food and beverages.

2016 promises to be an exciting year for Animal Kingdom! In addition to the above 6 reasons to visit Animal Kingdom in 2016 you will also be able to experience many of your favorite attractions after dark, try something new at the Harambe Market and just enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Disney’s Animal Kingdom at night. What are you most excited about?

This sounds amazing! So sad I don’t have a 2016 trip planned (being from Scotland means it’s a bit too expensive to be able to jet over whenever I like!)

I cannot wait for the Rivers of Light nighttime show! I’m usually at Animal Kingdom from open to close so I’m so excited that they will be open longer for the evenings!

I’m an all-dayer about 50% of the time, so this will definitely increase that! I’ve always loved walking around Animal Kingdom in the evening!

I am so glad that Animal Kingdom is getting so much attention. And I am getting my camera ready for all the nighttime events. Giddy is an understatement.
