Have you ever wondered (those of you that are old enough to remember) why the Mickey Head balloons are now floating in a crystal ball? In the early days of the Disney parks they sold the Mickey balloons alone, simply tied to their string and it was this way for years.
Guest Services, however, was getting a lot of complaints about Mickey (or more accurately, his ears) drooping before the day was done. Disney learned that by encasing the balloon in a clear latex bubble would not only allow it to last at least 24 hours longer than without, it also prevented the balloon from popping in the hot summer sun. And did you know if your balloon does pop you can take the remnants to any balloon vendor or guest services and they will give you a new one for free?
