This weeks Wordless Wednesday theme, Disney Weenies, requires a bit of an explanation. In Imagineer speak, a Park Weenie is the term for a visual icon, typically quite tall, that draws the guest towards it. Disney theme parks can have a single weenie, or multiple weenies in each park. Imagine walking through the entrance at Magic Kingdom and entering Main Street, what draws you forward? The Castle. Epcot? Spaceship Earth. Hollywood Studios? That dang hat. Animal Kingdom? The Tree of Life. The icons traditionally serve as the central hub of sorts for each theme park, almost acting as the center of a compass and allowing you to ground yourself and keep your bearings, as they are seen from almost anywhere in the park. Weenies can also appear in different lands of each park. For example, each of the Disney Mountains serves as an additional Park Weenie, as do Haunted Mansion, The Earful Tower, and the AT-AT outside of Star Tours.
Can you think of any additional Disney Parks Weenies? Let us know in the comment section!
