The greatest fear I have is stepping out of my very safe, non-contaminated kitchen to the great big world of food. My family and I have been battling the fear of eating out for the past 5 years. Our son was diagnosed with a peanut allergy when he was only two. I myself was diagnosed with Celiac’s disease just two years ago. Eating out can be a scary situation for both of us. I am so apprehensive and cautious to how food is prepared and served for both of us. Letting go of that trust to let someone else prepare our food causes some anxiety to say the least.
But, I must say traveling to any Disney park, resort, or cruise line has made enjoying our vacation and food super easy. I am constantly amazed at how dedicated the people at Disney are to make sure that the food is safe and good for us to eat.
There some key steps to make in preparation for your vacation. When I book all of my dining reservations, I let the operator know or note in the online system that we have certain food allergies. When we arrive to the restaurant, I also let the waiter or waitress know that we have our food allergies. Here is the amazing part, a chef will come and talk to you about what food is safe to eat on the menu and/or what they can prepare for you. Not only that the chef will walk you around the buffets and point out what foods are safe to eat! This allows my son to have the freedom to pick what he wants versus what mommy thinks he should have.
Disney is truly one of the easiest places to travel with food allergies. They make sure all needs are met. I am foodie and I do not let my Celiac Disease stop me from enjoying my food. Disney is truly the happiest place when I can enjoy my favorite foods!

Thanks so much for the links – this info is definitely helpful! I have friends who have food allergies, and they will appreciate knowing that Disney can help them out while they visit WDW!
We love Disney Cruising because they make my (gluten free) son feel so welcome!
They certainly know how to take care of every need!
Disney resorts an Cruises is the one of the few vacation spots that I truly feel comfortable eating at. They really understand and are so accomodating to food allergies. On our last cruise on the Magic, one night the only gluten free option was ice cream and I just wasn’t feeling it. So the chef prepared a delicious mousse dessert just for me. That kindof service is the reason why I prefer to cruise with Disney.
