Disney Cruise Line is known for being the leading cruise line for families but many question, “What about adults? Is there anything for adults to do without kids?” and the answer is a resounding yes. In March 2012 my family had the opportunity to cruise on the Disney Fantasy. During a day at sea with our son happily playing with his friends in the Oceaneer’s Club my husband and I took the opportunity to experience the Senses Spa and the couples massage. When we checked in the spa attendants escorted us to our respective changing rooms, assigned us each a locker, gave us a tour of the facility and showed us where we were to wait for our therapist to call us. After relaxing for a few minutes our therapists came and introduced themselves and then led us to our spa villa.
Each of the couple’s spa villas has 2 beds, a rain shower and a balcony with 2 chairs, a small table, 2 padded chaise lounge chairs and a Jacuzzi. The massage experience started with a rose petal foot bath on the verandah.
After about 15 minutes we were asked to come inside for our 60 minute massages. Each massage is customized to the guests preference and was absolutely fabulous. After the massage the therapists led us back out to the verandah, brought a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and left my husband and me to enjoy the Jacuzzi, shower or simply continue to relax on the lounge chairs watching the rolling seas. We were also free to enjoy the steam bath, steam room, dry sauna or three aromatherapy rich rainforest showers.
The Senses Spa is just one of the many adult only experiences on a Disney Cruise ship proving that these cruises are not just for kids anymore.
