Well, if you haven’t heard already, Disney Cruise Line has announced some changes recently in regards to a few of their onboard policies. Beginning November 15, 2013 guest will no longer be allowed to smoke on their stateroom verandah. Smoking will only be allowed in designated areas on the ships.
On the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, smoking will be permitted outdoors on Deck 4 starboard side from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. only, as well as the starboard side open-air decks 9 and 10 (excluding the Mickey Pool area).
On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, smoking will be permitted on deck 4 port side, aft, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Also on deck 12 port side, aft, the outdoor area that is accessible through the Meridian Lounge and deck 13 port side, forward, by Currents Bar.
Guest that are caught smoking in their staterooms or on their verandahs will be charged a $250 stateroom recovery fee.
Being a non-smoker I am happy with the changes to this policy, although I personally have never dealt with any neighboring guest, whether below, above or beside me smoking on their verandah, so it has never been an issue for me.
Disney does listen to guest feedback and apparently this must have been a constant complaint by guest. At the end of your cruise you are asked to fill out a guest comment card, just like a survey you take online. Everything from your stateroom to your dining experience and interaction with onboard cast members are all noted on there. Did you fill one out on your last cruise?
What are your thoughts on this new policy?
