Wordless Wednesday ~ The Disney Letter U

Good morning, good morning!  It’s great to stay out late!  Good morning, good morning to you!  Welcome to another installment of the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop, hosted by the fabulous Deb over at Focused on the Magic!  Today our theme is the Disney Letter U!  I’ll admit I scratched my head over this one for a few days, trying to come up with something other than Monsters University…and then, sitting in my classroom looking at our past show posters (I teach high school theatre), it hit me – Umbrellas!  We staged a production of Singin’ in the Rain a few years ago, and there was that beautiful show poster up above my white board just waiting for me to notice it.

Does this design look familiar? It should. :-)

The incredibly talented Mitchell D. performs as Don Lockwood.  Does this design look familiar? It should. 🙂

You see, my family has a tradition of taking a picture with the Singin’ in the Rain umbrella prop at Hollywood Studios every single trip we make to Walt Disney World.   This tradition dates back to I believe our first trip, as  I vaguely remember arguing with my cousin over who got to jump on the rain trigger first…At the very least it dates back to our second trip when I was about 14.  This collection of images isn’t quite that old though; it only dates back to 2004 when I had to take a picture of my poor umbrella trapped behind the Osborne Lights on our Honeymoon.  There are pictures of my sister and my mom from our girls trip in 2005, 2009 when I was 6 months pregnant, my son’s second trip in 2011 (he is sooo not interested), one of my “sister” Laurina (who coincidentally played Kathy Seldon in our production) from 2012 and one of my mom and Nana from our June trip last year.  And several of me.  Sorry about that.  These pictures are special to me, as they document our trips to Disney and the growth of our family.  I just love them.  I feel that this lovely tribute to one of my favorite movies won’t be around much longer, so I’m going to get as many pictures as I can before it makes it’s departure!

I hope they relocate it, but it doesn’t seem likely. I wonder if I could catch it at auction….hmmmm

Of course with so much on hold it could be around longer than I think!

Great choice for the theme and your series through the years is fantastic!! It’s wonderful that you got your inspiration from your class!

    Hi There!

My name is Lin and I’m the founder and heart behind DisneyMamas.com. I’m so glad you stopped by!

    My precious family

A Disney fan from birth,  I’ve made more than two dozen pilgrimages to my second home, Walt Disney World, with a handful of visits to Disneyland and Disney Cruise Line thrown in for good measure. Currently, I reside 1,162 miles from the World near Dallas, TX.

My usually willing, lifelong travel partner & husband is Chris, who’s Disney fandom is growing with every trip. Together we are raising two Disney-nuts-in-training: Connor and Logan. Connor’s passion of the moment is playing Sorcerer’s of the Magic Kingdom. Logan just wants to share your snack and ride it’s a small world.

Besides moming and blogging, I’m is also a high school theatre teacher by day and Disney and Universal travel agent by night for Once Upon a Time Vacations.
